通學證/通勤證

Buying a commuter pass proved to be one of the longest and most complicated task. At least, it was like that for me :(...

It took me a while to figure out which route i should take so i could get to the major stations such as 銀座, 池袋, 新宿, and 涉谷 from my place. I was hoping i could use my new keio student id to buy 50 percent off metro pass, BUTTT.. in Tokyo, it doesn't work that way. Apparently if you want to buy 通學commuter pass, aka student commuter pass to school, you can only go from your house to school, and you can't add any stations in between if they don't lie on the selected route. Another thing you need to keep in mind is that if you try to buy regular 通勤 commuter pass, often times they don't let you stop by too many stations. If you try to ask them, they will just tell you " すみません〜できないね”〜

Depending on which route you're taking, the difference could be up to 1000 yen or more. I think it is cheaper if you take either all metro system, or all 都營, all JR. After comparing prices at different commuter pass places ( the JR/Tokyo Metro), i decided to buy only from my place to shinjuku.

Although it is cheaper to purchase a 3 month one instead of a 1 month pass, i still got the 1 month just incase. You never know which campus you'll be at and where you'll want to go. I got the 1 month one just to be safe:)~
